2018! What a year!

2018! What a year!

Now the turkey is eaten and the festivities seem a distant memory all that is left is to finish off those half eaten boxes of chocolates with a good Yorkshire brew and look back on 2018.

Here is a look back on what we were involved in over the past 12 months.

For as long as we can remember the highlight of January is always BTME held at Harrogate International Centre. As always our stand is a show stopper showcasing all of our turf grades. It is a great opportunity to catch up with our much loved green keepers and suppliers.

During the first 5 months of the year we look forward to the RHS Flower Shows. 2018 was no different, in fact we would like to think it was the best year yet for client creations, results and that feeling of accomplishment was like no other.

First up was the number one horticultural show in the world, the renowned RHS Chelsea Flower Show. All of our clients have such different ideas and visions so it is always a pleasure to be involved with such unique creations. From Lindum Sedum Mat walls to Lindum Cowpats, it seems there is nothing we cannot deliver – literally! The cowpat gained so much attention, even from the PM Teresa May. This year we supplied 6 Gold, 4 Silver Gilt and 3 Silver medal winning gardens. Seeing the gardens come to life with our product and how much it means to the designers is something we will never tire of. The show gardens always take centre stage but we also supplied numerous 4 and 5 star trade stands.

We don’t like to say we have a favourite, although we really did have a soft spot for the Welcome to Yorkshire garden, designed and built by Mark Gregory and his team at Landform Consultants. It is always a pleasure to work with Mark but this year’s garden being everything Yorkshire made us extremely proud and we are honoured to have been a part of it. This garden took so many peoples breath away and made headline news as it won a Gold, BBC People’s Choice Award and Best Construction.

RHS Chatsworth, Hampton Court and Tatton Park Flower Show soon followed and what a delight they were.

In July we had the great pleasure of working in our home town, York. Being a proud Yorkshire based company we feel there is no better place to fly the flag than York City Centre. July hosted York in Bloom and we were heavily involved with greening the city with our fantastic WowGrass and Lindum Wildflower turf.

We created a wildflower haven in York Minster’s Deans Park. It created a walkway for children to get up close and personal with insects and bees and learn about the importance they have on the world. Read our ‘Save the bees’ blog here. Here at Lindum we love to encourage any educational campaigns so it was a privilege to be involved.

Wildflower was also laid at York Theatre Royal in the secret garden. A place for people to relax throughout the day in the centre of the city.

In November we launched LT8 Festival PLUS at Futurescape held at Sandown Park Racecourse, Surrey. It went down a storm and caught a lot of inquisitive people’s eyes as they walked around. We have so much to say about this fantastic new grade which has been added to our extensive range of landscape, golf and sports turfs. It can be seen next at BTME 22nd – 24th January, Harrogate International Centre.

Here is to a fantastic 2018 and an even better 2019! We hope you have all had a lovely Christmas break! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you for all your continued support!
