We have exhibited at BTME (BIGGA Turf Management Exhibition) since day one but this year was a little different for us in more ways than one.
This year saw a total re-jig of halls and exhibition stands. After much consideration, our new ‘BTME home’ is in the Purple Hall on stand 414. We found this hall worked really well for us and gave a fresh new modern look to the show. The show as a whole flowed really well and we are happy that the changes have been made.
With new stand dimensions and a new product to look after it was the prime opportunity to design and construct a new stand to show off our specialist grown turf. We took along our new product LT8 Festival PLUS turf. This was initially launched at FutureScape back in November, however this is the first time the golf industry have been introduced it. From the feedback we have had already, we knew it would go down a treat!
The LT8 Festival PLUS turf has been trailed and tested at selected golf courses up and down the country in different areas to great success. Greenkeepers have even said they won’t use anything else, they’re converted! It has been laid around ponds, on pathways and walkways and stood up to the wear and tear of heavy foot traffic and the very warm summer that we experienced last year. With its drought tolerant properties, the LT8 Festival PLUS has proved to be a great hit in the summer, in some occasions being the only turfed area that stayed green! Given the challenging temperatures that is a huge achievement! Greenkeepers and course managers alike were keen to get the low down on our new product and the interest was unbelievable just from other passers-by who felt the need to give it a touch on the way past. Coming into the final afternoon we had an influx of BIGGA staff on our stand, only to find out that our exciting new product had won the Best New Product Award. Results speak louder than words and we hope that the success of BTME shows the start of a positive future for LT8 Festival PLUS.
Obviously one award wasn’t enough. We did the double, winning not only the Best New Product Award but the Best Stand Award (small category, 21 square metres maximum). Designing a new stand this year has been fun, interesting and somewhat challenging at times. The team here at Lindum threw around plenty of ideas before coming up with the ‘Lindum Gallery’. It was then up to the production team to build it and bring the vision we had created on paper to life! Our extensive turf range were placed individually into their own framed pods onto a matt black background and boy did they pop! The green against the black really does grab your attention and the comments we received over the 3 day exhibition was fantastic although we never thought it would result in us winning 2 awards!
The feedback and results we received from BTME really have started off the year as we mean to go on.
We were also involved with the £1000 challenge. This was organised by EcoBunker. The challenge was for visitors to go around selected stands, ask a valid question and gain a stamp to be entered into a draw when the card was full. The draw had a few prizes, however the one everyone wanted was the £1000! Congratulations goes to the winner, Steve Hirons and the runner up Garrett Edwards (left) pictured with Richard Allen of EcoBunker and BIGGA’s Lauren Frazer.
BTME is one of the highlights of our year and overall, this year has to be one of the best we have experienced.
