Case Studies

Ascot Racecourse Ltd appointed Lindum to supply the turf for the parade rings and all the lawns as part of the major new redevelopment of the site in 2005.

Some 50,000 square metres of turf were supplied and laid with specialist teams. Working closely with Gavin Jones, the main landscape contractor, the building site was transformed to an area of immaculate green in time for the Royal meeting in June.

Several products from the Lindum range were used – 40mm thick Lokturf for the parade ring and lawns receiving the heaviest wear; 40mm thick rootzone turf for lawns laid towards the end of the project allowing instant use and standard turf on other areas.

The LT6 Sporturf grass mix was used throughout with a high percentage of ryegrass chosen for wear tolerance, recovery rates and shoot density, as well as smooth stalked meadow grass and creeping red fescue.
