Wigan Football Club

The JJB Stadium in Wigan is home not only to premiership football team Wigan FC, but is also the homeground of the hugely popular Wigan Warriors Rugby League club. Having these two teams play at the ground means that the pitch has to withstand an enormous amount of wear and tear throughout the year.

The ground owners decided they needed to relay the pitch, and appointed Talbot Turf Landscapes to carry out the project. Talbot selected Lindum’s hard wearing 40mm thick rootzone turf for the new pitch, which had to be stripped and relaid within a very short timescale.

Ian Forshaw, Groundsman at the Stadium, said: “The JJB Stadium is a very busy and popular venue and its pitch has to withstand, and quickly recover from, a great deal of wear and tear. The Lindum turf we used has proven to be ideal for this purpose, and we were delighted at how quickly and easily it was laid and established.”
