This year RHS Chelsea Flower Show was one of the most successful to date. With over 25 clients and in excess of 1600 square metres of product, it is fair to say the run up was very exciting.
All of our clients have such different ideas and visions so it is always a pleasure to be involved with such unique creations. From Lindum Sedum Mat walls to Lindum Cowpats, it seems there is nothing we cannot deliver – literally!
This year we supplied 6 Gold, 4 Silver Gilt and 3 Silver medal winning gardens. Seeing the gardens come to life with our product and how much it means to the designers is something we will never tire of.
We don’t like to say we have a favourite, although we really did have a soft spot for the Welcome to Yorkshire garden, designed and built by Mark Gregory and his team at Landform Consultants. It is always a pleasure to work with Mark but this years garden being everything Yorkshire made us extremely proud and we are honoured to have been a part of it.
In Mark’s 30th year at Chelsea Flower Show, it couldn’t have been made any more memorable. Receiving a Gold Medal, Best Construction Award AND the People’s Choice Award. It really was a favourite of both the judges and the public. The success was definitely a brilliant reason to celebrate in true Yorkshire style!
The garden was a quintessential slice of the Wensleydale countryside. Mark’s long grassy meadow with buttercups, cowslips and clover was grown and nurtured for many months prior here at Lindum HQ. It had very authentic features including our very own cowpat which made national headlines. Read the story of how the cowpat made it to Chelsea here.
You can’t have a Wensleydale theme without the famous Wensleydale cheese! The cheese really did go down a treat with the visitors. The garden was a picturesque area that optimised the essence of our beautiful iconic county. We couldn’t be happier for Mark, being a Yorkshireman himself we know he is very proud of his roots.
Ishihara Kazayuki did it again taking home Gold and Best Artisan Garden. He created a stunning example of Japanese culture dating back to the 15th century. This garden really did turn heads. The attention to detail was second to none as always. Supplying Lindum Sedum Mat for the wall and our felt backed WowGrass (our show garden turf) for the front really did enhance the overall serenity and peacefulness.
The New West End Garden, designed by Kate Gould was also awarded a Gold Medal. This garden was a modern interpretation of the gardens and architecture of a London square. Using WowGrass played its part in creating a calming space.
Not only are we heavily involved with show gardens at the show, we also have lovely clients that exhibit there too. The trade stands we have supplied and their results are as follows:
James and the team received 5 Stars for their stand. The long grasses we supplied for the wall and ground beneath the sculptures really did work tremendously together.
It was the first time Matt has used our products and we didn’t disappoint. He took home 5 Stars. We supplied Lindum Wildflower turf & WowGrass.
Creating a seamless finish to the stand using Lindum LT4 Smooth Stalked turf the team took home 5 Stars.
Andy used WowGrass as a place mat for the fire pits. They looked fabulous! A very well deserved 5 Stars was awarded.
We grew long grasses for John again this year and the finished stand looked absolutely stunning. John did add his own plants to the grass. This is just one example of how pliable and easy to handle the WowGrass really is. Congratulations on 5 Stars.
Creating an immaculate finish to show off the structures with WowGrass. Awarded 5 stars.
We also supplied to the 4 star winning trade stands below
- Indian Ocean Outdoor Furniture
- David Watkinson Sculptures
- Willie Wildlife Sculptures
- Distinctive Gardens
- The Original Muck Boot Company
Outside the show we had requests from florists to create fantastic window displays and entrances for retailers such as Dubbary of Ireland on Duke of York Square and Boutique 1. Chelsea in Bloom runs alongside the flower show. Many stores take pride in bringing the streets of Chelsea alive with colour. This years theme was the Summer of Love.
It is always a joy to be involved with such a prestigious event in the worlds horticultural diary. The whole team here at Lindum HQ would like to congratulate our clients on their well-earned results and bringing their visions to life in great style!
