FAQ’s

What is the recommended lawn turf for a residential garden?

For a residential garden we recommend LT7 Festival turf. LT7 is the best-selling lawn turf as it is hardwearing with average maintenance and looks great! If the garden is used heavily by children, for example playing football etc., we would suggest the LT6 Sports turf as this has a higher percentage of ryegrass. For a fine/ornamental lawn the LT4 Smooth Stalked turf would be best, this does require more maintenance to an average lawn as the fescues in the mix that make the turf fine are quite demanding.

What is the turnaround time from order to delivery?

Generally we need at least 2 working days prior to delivery date to organise the haulage and get the order booked into our schedule. Deliveries are made on a next day service and take place Tuesday – Friday (UK), Wednesday – Friday (Ireland). For deliveries outside of the UK please contact the office for more details.

Can we collect from you directly?

You can collect from us. We have various fields around Thorganby so when you order we will give you the postcode for the collection point. We do need a minimum of 24 hours’ notice for collections. Call us within office hours to organise your order. Collections are Monday – Friday.

How long can the turf/green roof vegetation mats stay rolled up for once delivered?

As the turf is a living product, we do say that it needs to be laid as soon as the delivery is made. 24 hours after collection from us (afternoon of the day before) is the maximum time frame, especially in the summer months. During winter the turf and vegetation mats could last an extra day but we do not advise this. The length of time you leave the turf after 24 hours is totally at your own risk.

What happens to the turf/vegetation mats if they are not laid the day that they are delivered?

The turf/vegetation mats are a living product. Like any other plant they need fresh air and water to survive. Once the turf/vegetation mats are palletised they are hidden from the elements they need. Failure to lay the turf quick enough can result in the start of the composting process. Sometimes you will be left with a yellow tinge in which case, the turf will need a heavy water to bring it back. This may take a couple of weeks. In worse cases the turf/vegetation mats will turn black, there is nothing you can do to revive the turf or plants at that stage. The turf/vegetation mats must not be watered when still in a roll.

Do you supply the full stage system for green roofs?

Yes we do! We can supply everything above the waterproof membrane. The three stage system consists of Lindum Wildflower Mat or Lindum Sedum Mat as the green cover on the top, underneath there is the substrate that the vegetation mats grow into and seek nutrients from and finally the drainage layer. Lindum Drainage Layer is made up of 3 materials, the protection fleece that sits on top of the waterproofing and the water reservoir core that catches the excess water and the filter fleece on top that doesn’t allow any fine particles to block the rest of the system.

Where can we meet you?

We are open in the office if you wish to come and chat to us Monday – Friday. We often like to show you the products too so that you get a feel for them and the way we work. We do recommend that you book an appointment beforehand so that you get the full Lindum experience! Alternatively, we exhibit at BIGGA Turf Management Exhibition (BTME) in Harrogate, RHS Chelsea Flower Show & Futurescape in London.
